I bought a small sample to be able to test it. Here comes my honest impression. SPOILER ALERT! I might be going against the flow here and I'm sorry to say that I don't like the scent – unfortunately, the result hasn't convinced me either. 😔 Yes, the oil is super light and the hair doesn't get greasy from it (if used as instructed), I also get a bit of softness. But the shine... nah... it doesn't turn out as promised; I see almost no shine at all – in my hair! And I do NOT have porous hair but thin, yet a lot of it, and also it's just a little frizzy. Have I really found a hair favorite??! 🥹🥹 In a small sample kit from @Kérastase, which I bought from an online store, came their probably most talked-about oil, which I have wanted to try for a long time but thought it was a bit too expensive and probably not as good as they say. So I got excited-happy to finally experience this 'miracle cure' myself: I applied a tiny amount to damp hair and Woooow!! 😲 Never have I had such smooth, beautiful hair in a damp state – no tangles, nope! I didn’t even need to comb (with a wide-tooth comb), just ran my fingers through. And as I said, I only used a tiny bit! 🥰 The scent of the oil is incredibly nice, soft and pleasant, not at all overpowering, which surprised me (positively), as I usually find Kérastase a bit too strong in scent for my taste, but I am scent-sensitive and have migraines, so... I’ve also tried the oil on dry hair; even less is needed, 1 pump is enough for me. The hair instantly becomes soft, shiny, completely frizz-free, looks well cared for, feels lightweight and smells heavenly (pleasantly mild). 🥰 The oil is also very economical, neither sticky nor greasy, leaves no residue and doesn’t weigh the hair down. Yes, now I can absolutely understand the hype!! 🌟❤️🌟❤️🌟 As a cheaper alternative/dupe to this, L’Oréal’s Elvital Extraordinary Oil is mentioned. I’ve tried that too and don’t think it matches up. I liked Kérastase much better! It was a bit lighter in texture, smelled much better and was much more economical. With L’Oréal, my hair felt greasy and not nearly as cared for and nice. It weighed the hair down and felt oily. Also, I had to use 2-3 times as much for a result I was happy with. By the way: The morning after applying the oil (I washed my hair the afternoon before), I woke up with incredibly nice hair! No hair ties, no frizz – just softness, shine, smoothness and lightness! What a feeling! 🥰🥰 I barely needed to brush through my hair – and the best part: it lasted all day – I haven’t used more oil or other products to not distort the result! I am more than thrilled! I wanted to love it, but..
...unfortunately, I can't handle the scent. 😪 I got a severe migraine attack, and it makes me so sad because the serum seems sooooo amazing! I really wanted to use and love it, like so many of you do, but... 😔😔 I hoped that the shampoo, conditioner, and mask had a different scent or at least a less strong one. So when I saw such a sample kit in an online store for a small price, I went for it. Tried them all today. The result was pretty good. I personally find the shampoo a bit too little nourishing for my hair. I want my hair to feel nourished already after shampooing; meaning the hair doesn't feel straw-like after rinsing. After the conditioner and even more after the mask, the hair is super nourished! Great result! I'm thrilled, BUT..!! The scent is too strong and something in it triggered a strong migraine attack. Such a shame! 😔 I'm torn. The hair feels soft and incredibly light after these 3 products. I've never had such a feeling before! Love it! 🥰 But it can't be worth a migraine attack every wash day. If a fragrance-free version came out, I would probably buy the whole series immediately. But the search continues... There must be another shampoo with the same outstanding result... or? I won't give up hope.😊 Addition: I have to add one thing now, 1 day after washing: I woke up with super nice hair! My hair has volume (which it never usually has), looks shiny and nice even before brushing. I use this serum all the time, and I love it! Since I have quite thin hair, I only need a little each time, so it lasts really long – and that’s a big plus! For those who don't know, I am a trained hairdresser and extremely picky when it comes to hair care! 👸🏼 I was so afraid these products would feel heavy on my otherwise thin and fine hair – but definitely not! Quite the opposite! The series has a mild scent, kind of like rose, I would say. It smells quite mild, so it probably suits you even if you're a bit sensitive to scents! The oil is easy to dose! Here I only use a few drops on dry hair but it can also be applied to damp hair. Later, I could easily apply a few more drops without it feeling heavy in any way! I have a slightly dry scalp, while my lengths are more “normal” but can get a bit dry and frizzy sometimes. I usually take about 3-4 pumps and distribute it in the lengths and ends, which is enough for my hair!🧡 (this is not a serum for the scalp) I have really noticed a big difference in my hair when I use this serum! My hair becomes so incredibly soft and smooth, while feeling light and not like you have a lot of product in your hair or that the hair is weighed down.🤩 And the scent!! It really smells SO good, it’s a very fresh and luxurious scent and I like that it doesn’t get too strong, you can smell it just right without it taking over. One of my favorite things to use it for is when I do my heatless curls. I usually put the serum in the lengths and ends before I twist up my hair. When I take out my curls, I usually finish with a little hair oil, mostly Kérastase Elixir Ultime L’Huile Originale in the lengths and ends. This review was written in 2023 – but for the 500 ml variant that has been discontinued from LYKO's range. 2023: I took LYKO's hair test to get tips and advice on which products might suit my hair. And I am super satisfied! 🌸 My hair: fine – but thick – Nordic. It is exposed to A LOT of wear and tear. I work out actively – both indoors and outdoors – so I wash my hair almost every day. Here is what I think: 💎 Nice design. 💎 Lovely scent. 💎 Economical – I need a very small amount of shampoo. 💎 Hair feels clean, soft, and healthy. 💎 And my hair tolerates a lot more, no doubt about it. 💎 All in all, Kérastase Genesis Bain Nutri-Fortifiant Shampoo gives a feeling of luxury and well-being. 🌱 Kérastase focuses on climate and environment. They have reduced the amount of plastic in the bottles, and just by redesigning the caps, 45 tons of plastic are saved annually. The bottles are also made of 95% recycled plastic. 🌸 I use Kérastase Genesis shampoo, conditioner, and treatment together with Davroe Ends Repair Leave-In Treatment and Wella Professionals Invigo Sun. 💘 I am SO satisfied – I both feel and see that my hair is well taken care of. 🎯 I will stick 100% to the recommendations given by LYKO's own hairdressers – because they are absolutely right for me and my hair. 🩷 Kérastase Genesis shampoo I have really gotten hooked on this shampoo! It lathers up well and you only need to use a small amount each time, which makes the bottle feel very economical. I usually shampoo my hair twice because I think it gets the cleanest and freshest that way. 🫧 And how beautiful are Kérastase's packaging? ✨ I really love the luxurious look, and since pink is my favorite color, this series looks extra nice on the bathroom shelf. 🩷 One small downside, however, is the caps. When you're standing in the shower with wet hands, it can be a bit tricky to get the cap back on properly. The scent is very fresh and feels luxurious. It also stays in the hair for a good while after the shower. Personally, I sometimes find the scent a bit intense, so if you're sensitive to strong fragrances, it might be good to keep that in mind. After washing, the hair feels soft, smooth, and clean, and I also think it stays fresh for a long time. 🌸 Regarding hair loss, it's a bit too early for me to say if I notice any difference.
