These work quite well. I have the red ones - 40 mm in diameter. I use hair clips to secure them in place and then put a hair net over them. They are heavier than plastic self grip rollers but less scratchy. I need to buy some larger rollers and I think I will go for self grips. I have the 40 mm flocked rollers and these pins are not enough to hold them in place. I think that these rollers are too big and heavy and my hair not long enough for the pins to work. I experimented with them and they work best when I used 2 of them, crossed them and stuck them in from under the roller. The rollers stayed in place while I sat still, but when I started moving and walking around the house, my hair slipped out and the rollers became loose. I now use clips with the flocked rollers.
