Doesn't hold
I bought this because I wanted something that would hold better than gel iq, but unfortunately it doesn't. To remove it from the nails, you have to soak them in warm water for 3 minutes with or without their oil, which is very strange since most people shower longer than 3 minutes, resulting in the nails loosening up after the first shower, it becomes like white bubbles at the edges. It also doesn't matter if you take a little or a lot of gel and make sure to cover the edges of the nails, the gel starts to come off your nails anyway.14603 views- The user's roll: Customer service at Lyko. The comment was made 10 monthsHi Anastasija ππ Thank you for sharing your experience! π€ We understand that it can be frustrating when the result is not as expected. We have been in contact with Depend to get advice regarding what you describe and have received some tips that may help moving forward π: The durability of the Gel Builder can vary, but in many cases, it lasts up to three weeks. Application technique and lifestyle can affect the result; for example, it is recommended to apply the gel with a small margin around the cuticles for the best adhesion. When it comes to removal, it works best in combination with Gel iQ Remover Oil and warm water. The combination along with the formula in Base Coat causes the gel to swell and release from the nail. If instead, you have done an extension with tips, Gel iQ Remover is recommended along with Foil Wraps. We hope these tips can help achieve a better result next time π Have a nice day π€13 likes

Simple with a nice and professional result
Fun to play with, there are many colors to choose from and the result is fantastic. You might think I went to a salon. Also perfect if you have nails that tend to break, then you can do reinforcement with this.739 views - The user's roll: Lyko Creator. The post was made 2 weeksRating: 5 out of 5
Salon-fine nails at home π
I have used Depend Gel IQ starterpack for many years and it has worked fine but unfortunately didnβt hold that well at work, so when I found Depends Gel Builder I obviously had to try it! & Iβm sold! π Lasts much better at work and in everyday life and my fragile nails can be long! Sooo happy and after a few times itβs really super easy to do on yourself βΊοΈ 5 out of 5 stars from me! βοΈ π Ps: The Gel IQ polishes obviously work with Gel Builder so if you have or want to buy those polishes it works fine! πββοΈ π¨ #lykocreator #depend #naglar #lykoreview - The post was made 3 weeks
UV lamp
Is it the same lamp as in the gel iq kit? So can I use the one from my gel iq for this as well, and if so, which setting and for how long?334 views- The user's roll: Lyko Creator. The comment was made 2 weeksHi Ebba! It is correct that the same lamp is in these kits π For Gel Builder, it is recommended to use setting 2 (120 seconds) to cure each layer π All the best!

Refill
Hi! If I already have nail extensions done at a salon, can I build on top of them with the kit, or should I remove them and do completely new ones with items from the Depend kit?707 views- The user's roll: Customer service at Lyko. The comment was made 1 monthHello Stella! π I wouldnβt recommend mixing different systems. Depend Gel Builder is designed to be used with its own materials, so applying it over a salon-built enhancement from another brand can reduce adhesion and durability. My tip is therefore to remove the old material first (preferably at a salon for gentle removal) and then rebuild the nails with the Depend Gel Builder Starter Kit π All the best!

Affordable and "easy" to do at home
This is simply what it promises to be. So, salon extensions on a budgetπ You try your way forward, but the polish is basically easy to work with, smooth consistency and a nice finish. Maybe I like these polishes in shine better than the original gel IQ. The reason it gets 4 stars and not 5 is because of the strange composition of the tips. Two different kinds, which is good that you get to try both, but there is no logic in the size distribution (for example, I got a 10, but several 8s), which, yes, 8s can probably be used on more fingers but I donβt have a pinky, do I? π Something else that would feel better was a more pleasant nail glue. The one included is the same glue you work with when you order fake nails basically anywhere from Ullared to H&M. It sticks but itβs not very smooth to work with and in the end the cap gets stuck and the glue becomes a one-time use (twice if youβre lucky). So based on the whole kit, 4 out of 5. But based on the nail polish still a solid 5 out of 5. Iβm happy with how it cures and how it is to work with!! βοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈ712 views - The post was made 2 months
Questions about reinforcement
I have been using this for a few weeks and am so far quite satisfied. After about 1 week, the reinforcement starts to come off near the cuticle β so I haven't quite got the technique down yet. I understand that it is very important to clean the nails beforehand so that there is no oil on the nail. I also usually lightly file the surface of the nail. Otherwise, I follow the instructions that came with the kit. Since removal wears down the nail a bit, I would like to avoid removing the reinforcement every week when it starts to come off. Two questions: 1. What can I do to prevent the reinforcement from coming off at the cuticle? What could be the cause? 2. Do I have to remove the reinforcement when it starts to come off, or can I fill it in? However, I don't want a "bubble" to form that grows out with the nail.597 views- The user's roll: Customer service at Lyko. The comment was made 2 monthsHi there Ellen ππ₯° So great to hear that you are happy with the Builder Gel Kit so far! π The material starting to lift at the cuticle often happens because the product got a bit too close to the skin or there is oil or invisible skin residue left on the nail plate. Gently buffing the nail surface and cleaning thoroughly before application is absolutely right. A tip is also to be extra careful to push back the cuticles and avoid the gel touching the skin during application. Regarding your second question, I recommend not filling on top of an area where the material has started to lift from the nail. If a lift or air bubble has formed, itβs best to gently file away the loose material before applying new product. This reduces the risk of moisture or dirt being trapped between the nail and the product. If you want to avoid having to pull or rip off the material when it starts to lift, you can instead use a soak-off method. Then you dissolve the material in a gentler way according to the instructions in the kit, which is usually much kinder to the natural nail. π€ The acetone used during removal can be a bit drying for both nails and skin, so I recommend moisturizing your hands, cuticles, and nails afterwards π lyko.com/sv/depend/depend-gel-iq-remover-method-2--se-fi- lyko.com/sv/depend/depend-gel-iq-removal-wraps-foil-10-pcs--se-fi-no-dk- lyko.com/sv/depend/depend-pt-myrra---avokado-nagelolja-8ml Hope this helps and that the durability will be even better at your next application! Can you keep using cuticle oil?
I did my nails for the first time now with the starter kit, it went great, smooth, simple, and nice! Iβm wondering now if I can keep using Dependβs cuticle oil or if it might somehow dissolve the gel nails?1087 views- The user's roll: Employees at Lyko. The comment was made 3 monthsHello! π So fun that you tried the kit π Isnβt it just wonderful, and so convenient!? You can absolutely use Depends cuticle oil even when you have gel nails π π Itβs actually really good to continue with nail oil because it helps both the cuticles and your natural nails stay moisturized and flexible! Hope you like it!

DependGel BuilderStartkit
Create salon-quality nails at home in just a few simple steps! Change the shape of your nail, strengthen your natural nail or extend by adding tips. Using Gel Builder you can achieve strong, sturdy and long-lasting salon-quality nails that will last for up to 3 weeks. The starter kit includes everything you need to get started quickly and easily.
When using Gel Builder, your nails only need light cleaning with Cleanser before starting your treatment. The UV/LED lamp has been developed specifically for the Gel Builder system and each coat should be cured for 2 x 30 seconds to guarantee safe and correct curing of material.
The viscosity of the gel allows you to either extend or strengthen nails, yet it is also sufficiently fluid to be self-levelling. Once the Top Coat has been cured under the lamp, all you have to do is clean your nails using Cleanser. Your Gel Builder nails are now cured and dry with a fantastic shine and will stand up to hard knocks.
Gel Builder can be removed using two different methods. Method 1 is a gentle option: the material is removed using a special vegetable oil and warm water. Method 2 is better suited to dry nails for which a remover may be needed. To remove overlays, you can use Method 1 or 2. We recommend Method 1 in the first instance, which works for most nail types. Otherwise we recommend Method 2. To remove extensions with a tip, use Method 2.
Read through and follow all the instructions for use and the safety information carefully, and have everything you need to hand before you start the treatment.
How to use:
Gel Builder Starter kit (extensions, overlays)
These
How to use:
include precise instructions for applying an overlay to a natural nail or an extension with a tip.
Read through all the instructions and the safety information carefully. Follow them step by step and make sure you have everything you need to hand before you start. Keep these instructions for future reference.
Only use the products indicated in the instructions and never mix with other brands.
Use a Depend UV/LED lamp intended for Gel Builder products and ensure correct curing of the material.
Do not use this product if:
β’ You have previously experienced an allergic reaction after using UV/LED-cured nail products.
β’ You are allergic to acrylates, as these products may cause an allergic reaction.
β’ Your cuticles are split or damaged, etc. or if your nails are in poor condition (thin, dry or split).
β’ You bite your nails or have short nails, where the tip of your nail (the top) ends below the skin of your fingertips.
UV/LED lamp: Read through the separate instructions for the UV/LED lamp before using it. Do not look directly at the light from the UV/LED lamp when it is in use. Always unplug the lamp when you have finished applying the products. The lamp has a timer, which should always be set to 30 seconds. If curing for 60 seconds: press the 30-second button once, and when the lamp goes off, press the 30-second button once more. The lamp generates heat and may feel slightly hotter if you have thin nails or apply too thick a coat of gel to the nail. This will abate after treatment.
Storing Gel Builder at home
Gel Builder products are sensitive to light. Take care, therefore, to screw the top on immediately after use. Wipe the thread on the neck of the bottle, so there is less risk that the bottle will be difficult to open next time you use it.
Store the products in a cool, dark place.
How often can I apply Gel Builder?
Gel Builder lasts for up to 3 weeks, and so we recommend not applying it more frequently than this. If you do, the effect on your nails is more severe, which may damage the quality of your natural nails. We also recommend that after removal you wait a week before applying Gel Builder again, and check your nails to ensure that they are in good condition. If not, then wait until they are in good condition again.
Preparations before/after treatment:
The products should be used indoors and must not be exposed to direct sunlight during the treatment. While applying products, protect the surface where you are sitting with a towel. Make sure there is plenty of ventilation as you work. Ensure you have good lighting. If you still have polish or traces of it on your nails, remove this using Depend Super Fast nail polish remover. Have cotton buds handy to be able to remove any unwanted product from the skin easily using Cleanser. In case of spillage on the lamp, bottle or top, clean with Cleanser and wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
Application techniques β general:
To avoid getting the polish on your skin, we recommend that you always:
- Ensure you have plenty of light and a good posture for applying the products.
- Leave a decent safety margin around the cuticles, taking particular care when applying transparent products, as these are more difficult to see.
- Stroke the brush against the inside of the neck of the bottle when applying the Base Coat and Top Coat, to avoid getting too much on the brush and applying too thick a coat. Too much polish increases the risk of it spreading on to the cuticles and inferior adhesion.
Remember that the gel will not dry until you cure it under the UV/LED lamp, so you can take your time in applying it.
Important: ensure that all your fingers are properly exposed to the light from the UV/LED lamp. Remember not to touch the nail with your fingers during application.
Application technique β extensions:
β’ Important: if the product comes into contact with the skin around your nail, this must be removed prior to curing using Cleanser applied to a cotton bud. Applies to steps 8, 9 and 10.
β’ A sticky surface will form on the nail after steps 8, 9 and 10 as part of the process. Do not touch this. Remove this surface as per the instructions in step 11.
β’ Complete steps 1β7 on all nails first.
β’ Steps 8, 10 and 11. Begin with the four fingers of one hand, from the little finger to the index finger. Complete these fingers first before moving on to the other hand and repeating the process. Finish off by carrying out these steps on both thumbs.
β’ Step 9. Do one nail at a time.
Extra tip: Use one of our Nail Art brushes in step 6 to help you apply and move Gel Builder like a professional.

Instructions for extensions using Gel Builder
1. Use a fine/medium file to uniformly shape your natural nail to ensure the tip fits better.
2. Apply Depend Exfoliating Cuticle Remover to the nail and cuticle. Leave to work for 1 minute. Wash off using soap, water and a nailbrush. Use the orange stick to push back the cuticle as needed and scrape away any dead skin from the surface of the nail.
3. Measure and select which size of tip fits your nail. It should fit from side to side. It is better to choose one that is too large and file it down at the sides so that it fits perfectly.
4. Carefully file the top side of the tip to reduce any joins and ensure a smoother transition between the tip and your own nail. Wipe off and set aside.
5. Clean your nails using Cleanser.
6. Apply a thin layer of glue to the bonding surface of the tip. Apply a thin layer of glue to your natural nail where the tip is to be attached. Hold the tip angled downwards, with the contact area facing the nail, and press it down evenly onto the nail, keeping it pressed for a few seconds. This reduces the risk of air bubbles.
7. Once the glue has dried, you can trim and file the tip to the desired shape. Wipe off. Clean again as needed.
8. Apply Base Coat to your natural nail towards the join with the tip. Cure for 60 seconds (press the 30-second button twice).
9. NB: Do this step one nail at a time!
Brush a thin coat of Gel Builder in your chosen shade over the nail and tip, leaving a margin round the cuticle. Leave this uncured. Pick up a fresh amount of gel on your brush and apply it along the centre of your nail as a line to build up. Alternatively, you can also use a sweeping U motion to apply the gel to your nail.
Then turn your finger over at a 45-degree angle to create the perfect Apex. The force of gravity will draw the gel downwards, creating a curve = Apex, which gives the nail optimum strength and balance.
Once you are happy with this, turn the finger back over. Adjust as needed. Cure for 60 seconds (press the 30-second button twice).
If you are not happy with the gel application, first clean the sticky surface from the nail as per point 11 below. Then correct the shape using a medium/coarse file, wipe off and clean again.
10. If you want to add a Gel iQ colour, do this before applying Top Coat and cure each coat for 30 seconds. Once you have done all 4 fingers, apply Top Coat and cure for 60 seconds (press the 30-second button twice).
11. Cleaning/Top finishing
The sticky surface that forms on the nail after curing your Top Coat must be removed to achieve optimum shine. Therefore it is important to clean the entire surface of the nail using Cleanser. Wipe down the surface in one firm motion to remove the sticky surface. You will need at least 12 cotton wool pads to hand.
Method for each nail:
1. Apply plenty of Cleanser to a cotton wool pad.
2. Place the saturated surface of the pad over the entire nail and wait 5 seconds.
3. With 2 fingers on the pad, press down to ensure even pressure across the surface of the nail. Now wipe from the cuticle to the tip of your nail in one firm motion.
4. Use a fresh, clean pad for each nail and repeat the same process for all your nails.
5. Once all your nails have been cleaned in this way, you can clean them once more with Cleanser. This will bring out the gelβs fantastic colour and shine. Soak your pad with Cleanser and clean from cuticle to tip. First wipe down the centre of the nail and then do the left and right sides. Use a fresh, clean pad for each hand.
6. Important: complete the treatment by washing your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
Once you have completed all these steps, your hard-wearing, high-shine polish will last for about two weeks.

How to remove Gel Builder
Depending on your nail type and the condition of your nails, you may or may not find it difficult to remove Gel Builder. We have therefore opted to use 2 different removal methods.
β’ To remove overlays, you can use Method 1 or 2. We recommend Method 1 in the first instance, which works for most nail types. Otherwise we recommend Method 2.
β’ To remove extensions with a tip, use Method 2.
Method 1: Gel iQ Remover Oil removes Gel Builder gently using vegetable oil. For this method to work, there must be a certain amount of growth between the cuticle and the Gel Builder, which you would naturally have if the Gel Builder has been on for two weeks. This method is gentle on the nail and cuticle thanks to the unique formula, which produces a reaction between the Gel iQ Remover Oil, the water and the Gel Builder that lifts the material from the nail.
Method 2: A more traditional removal method. This uses Gel iQ Remover and Gel iQ Removal Wraps Foil to make removal easier.
Varning
DO NOT USE GEL BUILDER IF:
β’ You have previously experienced an allergic reaction after using UV/LED-cured nail products.

β’ Your cuticles are split or damaged, etc. or if your nails are in poor condition (thin, dry or split).
β’ You bite your nails or have short nails, where the tip of your nail (the top) ends below the skin of your fingertips.
