Finally (!!) cracked the code 🥹👏🏻
I was so lucky to receive Milk Makeup's Hydro Grip Primer as a #LYKOINFLUTESTER 💚 I am 34 years old, have normal to dry skin. A bit sensitive at times if products contain a lot of fragrance. I have a few lines around my eyes, and a small one by my mouth. And I get a few pimples/bumps now and then. To be honest, I have tested this before. DID NOT get it to work on my skin 🥲 But this time I decided to do a little research and test it out for several days with different techniques - until I found the “right” way to use it. Because this is apparently a primer that you either love or hate, depending on the right technique. Guess what? I have finally cracked the code - at least for my skin 🥹👏🏻👏🏻 First of all, this is a primer with both hyaluronic acid and niacinamide. So skincare! 😍 The first and biggest mistake I made with this is applying other moisture serums and moisturizers before I applied the primer. That’s the first mistake people make, I think - myself included. It becomes butter on bacon and usually ends up with a lot of pilling of both skincare and makeup along the way. Less is more, even when it comes to skincare 😂 So step number one; Pat a thin toner into the entire face as the only prep before the primer. I do this just so the skincare in the primer can penetrate deeper into the skin, giving lots of moisture. Then I pump out 2 pumps of primer onto my hand and distribute it all over my face. The consistency is a light gel. At first, it is very easy to spread, but becomes sticky the more you work it into the skin. I apply it first like a moisturizer, before I gently pat it in until I feel it starting to get sticky. This also helps the primer press into fine lines and pores. Then I wait 1 minute before I apply makeup over it. When I apply foundation/skin tint and concealer over, I always press the products in with a brush. I never drag the brush over the skin!! Pilling of skin/makeup can still happen if you have dry skin or haven’t exfoliated in a while, which is more likely to happen if you drag the brush over the face. Important to remember 🥹 And these are the steps that have worked perfectly for me and this primer 💚 The result on my makeup after a whole day at work was truly impressive. The smile line I have next to my mouth, where the makeup ALWAYS creases - was still completely smooth when I got home from work!! 😮 And that’s not a given here. So I finally understand the hype around this primer and will actually continue to use it. Because wow, what an insane result. The only negative thing I have to say is that I feel like my skin feels a bit “heavier” with this on. It could be that it’s because I’m not used to using primers regularly. But my skin doesn’t feel dry, just a bit “tight” in a way. As if I have on a slightly thicker layer of makeup than I usually wear. Therefore, I think that what is stated in the description about it not giving a “heavy feeling” doesn’t quite hold true. Also, I think the price is very high compared to how little product you get, especially in a 10ml. The next largest at 45ml is also maybe a little product, in relation to the price. But it’s nice to wish for as a birthday or Christmas gift 😍 Can absolutely be recommended - if you use it correctly! 💚 #MILKMAKEUPTranslated from norwegian

Way too expensive
I've tried this primer from Milk a few times now, but unfortunately I'm not convinced. Especially because it's so expensive for such an extremely small package. So I expect almost miracles, but was disappointed. The biggest reason for the low rating is that I feel it almost makes my skin dry. I usually apply my liquid foundation with my fingers, and it doesn't glide out as well and easily as it usually does with this primer underneath. Sometimes it almost seemed like the foundation was flaking a bit, or however I should describe it. The formula is a bit gel-like like most other primers. It glides on the skin, and when you start to pat it in with your fingers, it sticks a little, but not too much. Spontaneously, I think that “sticky” is usually synonymous with good grip. However, this stickiness almost completely disappears after the minute you are supposed to wait before applying foundation, and the only difference I feel on my skin is that it is a little less oily. I usually tend to get a bit oily, especially on my forehead, and if this primer does anything, it’s to reduce that oiliness a bit. It also says that you can use it alone, but I don’t see the point in that at all since I don’t notice any difference in how my skin looks when it comes to glow. One pump was enough for my face, but still half the bottle is empty after maybe 5-6 uses. No bang for your buck here unfortunately! If it had been cheaper, the rating wouldn’t have been as low, but this feels like a robbery. The amount on the back of the hand in the video is one pump! #LYKOINFLUTESTER #MILKMAKEUPTranslated from swedish

Hydro Grip Primer
I had the pleasure of testing the #milkmakeup primer. I was a bit nervous before the first try, as I had heard many conflicting opinions about the product – especially that the makeup "rolled" on the skin seemed to be a challenge mentioned by many. I started by moisturizing my face thoroughly. After that, I warmed the primer between my fingers and gently patted it onto my skin. I let the product set for about a minute before applying foundation. The result was a light, glowing, and fresh makeup base! The primer feels really light on the skin and doesn’t cause any tightening sensation that some primers can bring. The makeup stays well throughout the day, and the skin retains a beautiful glow. I tried using the primer more generously once, but then it started to roll off even before applying foundation. So less is more – one pump is enough for the whole face. However, the primer is quite small compared to its price, so the price-quality ratio largely depends on your own expectations and needs. The primer gives the face a beautiful, natural glow and makes the makeup base look fresh – an excellent choice, especially for those who love lighter makeup. ☀️ #lykotestpilot2 likes1271 viewsto leave a comment - 1 week
Milk makeup hydro grip primer💚
As a #lykotestpilot, I tried the hydro grip primer from #milkmakeup🥰 As mentioned in a previous review, the hydro grip gel tint was too dark for my skin tone. Therefore, I tried the hydro grip primer under Nars Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation and Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer, which are two of my favorite everyday/work foundation/base. I’m not someone who uses primer under makeup. I have a consistent skincare routine that is good for my skin and gives me glow, and I apply sunscreen before I use makeup. My impression of milk makeup's hydro grip primer was extremely good and it almost worked like a «glue» for the face in contact with the makeup. I found it a bit sticky, maybe because I already had sunscreen and skincare on. The makeup didn’t crease around my mouth and it actually gave me a nice glow throughout the day. I think the size is too small if you’re going to use it every time under makeup, 10 ml is fine to have as a travel buddy 💚 Very practical and luxurious packaging. I would definitely buy it, but in the largest packaging.Translated from norwegian

Milk Makeup Mini Hydro Grip Primer
I got to test #milkmakeup's products as a #lykotestpilot. I have been looking forward to trying this primer. The primer is gel-like in consistency and becomes sticky for a while after application. I applied it with my hands and I patted the primer onto my skin, which has worked best for me. I have used Milk's Hydro Grip Gel Tint with and without the primer, and I would say it holds better with the primer. You also get a glow. The primer has a pump, which I really like, and the packaging is nice. I think it's a well-functioning primer, but there are other options that do just as good a job at a lower cost.Translated from swedish

A skincare product disguised as a primer 🍃
This product contains several of my absolute favorite skincare ingredients, including aloe vera, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, and amino acids – as well as agave, hemp, and sweet cherry. It works both as an effective skincare product and an excellent base for makeup 🙏 I applied no skincare products beforehand and expected that the makeup might settle into lines – but I was wrong. The result pleasantly surprised me! I would highly recommend this in combination with Hydro Grip Gel Tint from the same brand. My skin feels well-hydrated, while the product provides a smooth and even base for further makeup application. It also gives a fantastic glow. This will undoubtedly be a staple in my summer makeup routine ☀️🫶 #LYKOTESTPILOT #MILKMAKEUPTranslated from norwegian

Smooth makeup-base
I had the pleasure of testing two products from MILK Makeup – Hydro Grip Primer and Hydro Grip Gel Tint. Here is my honest review after using both products for an extended period. I am generally very satisfied with MILK Makeup’s Hydro Grip Primer. The first thing I noticed was the lightweight consistency – it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. A big plus is also that it is fragrance-free, which I really appreciate. 🩵🧴 After application, I found that it smooths the skin nicely and makes the pores less visible, providing a great base for makeup. However, it’s important to apply it correctly. Pros: * ✅Super light and comfortable consistency * ✅Fragrance-free – perfect for sensitive skin * ✅Smooths pores and provides a great foundation for makeup Cons:🙃 * Can peel off the skin if not applied correctly Tips for use: ☝️ Apply with dabbing motions and wait 1-2 minutes before applying makeup on top. It makes a huge difference for the result! All in all, it’s a primer I would definitely recommend, especially for those who want a smooth and long-lasting makeup base – as long as you follow the application instructions. #lykotestpilot #milkmakeup #primerTranslated from danish

A fresh addition 🍃
For someone used to silicone blurring primers, this was a fresh addition to the makeup bag. It gives a hint of glow, evens out, sits nicely on the skin, and is a bit STICKY. MEEEN that's the whole point for the makeup to stay better. 😄 Even though the makeup should stay better with this, I think 12 hours is unrealistic to expect a primer to keep the makeup looking nice. After just 2 hours, the makeup started to show in the smile lines, and after about 8 hours, I was a bit patchy in some areas. And that was without putting any extra makeup over than the Skin tint in the same series. With ingredients like Hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and blue agave extract, this gives me an extra step of hydration, something I appreciate before putting on makeup. I will use this alone or with a lighter tint going forward as I think it worked best for me. 😊 #LYKOTESTPILOT #MILKMAKEUPTranslated from norwegian

Luxurious but not completely flawless
I tested the Milk Hydro Grip Primer long before I became a #lykotestpilot for #milkmakeup, so I already knew what to expect. A big advantage is that you don’t need to use much – a small dab is enough, which is a plus considering the high price. But for me, it has a pretty big downside: it doesn’t work at all with my Becca Eye Brightening Corrector or NARS concealer – the products slide or apply unevenly. That’s a dealbreaker for me, as those two new additions are staples in my makeup routine. On the other hand, it has worked without issues with most foundations I’ve tested, *except* for Milk Makeup’s own Hydro Grip Tint – it didn’t stick at all on my nose and chin (I have a separate review on that if you want to know more). In summary: a primer that does a lot right and feels luxurious, but considering the price and some combination issues, I think there are other options that give just as nice results – at a lower cost.Translated from swedish

In-Between Roll
I usually don't use primer under my makeup, but now I had the chance to test the super popular MILK Hydro Grip Primer. I like that the product is silicone-free, and the gel-like consistency provided lovely extra moisture under the makeup. I personally have dry skin, so extra moisture is always welcome! I also want to give a plus for the product's fragrance-free quality. As you can see from the picture, the primer has strong hold! The cork even stayed stuck to my cheek 😂 The makeup didn't move off my face throughout the day, as the product promised... at least when used correctly. The primer worked best with the Milk Hydro Gel tint, but with my matte Clarins foundation, the result was... pretty horror... 😱 The makeup rolled off heavily and didn't spread evenly over the primer. I suspect this was due to either A. not letting the face cream absorb properly before applying the primer and foundation B. my foundation being old or its matte consistency not being compatible with the primer C. applying too thick a layer of primer... I don't know. However, with the Milk Hydro Grip Gel Tint, the product worked well. #LYKOTESTPILOT #MILKMAKEUP6 likes1217 views- Customer service at Lyko1 weekHi Heidi, Thank you for your lovely review – great to hear! 😍✨ This is one of my own favorites too. As you mentioned, it’s really important for the result to let the base products absorb properly and to wait at least a minute after applying the primer before adding foundation 🙏🏻 Matte foundations can sometimes be a bit more challenging with primers, but it’s great to hear that another one of your foundations works seamlessly with this! From my experience, for example, Lumene’s CC cream and Maybelline New York’s Superstay 24H Skin Tint also work well with this primer. Have a lovely day! 🩷1 likes

Moisturizing and Gentle
I have naturally sensitive, dry, and freckled skin. That's why it's important that the products I use don't dry my skin out further or burn. 🤍 The primer successfully moisturized and prepped my skin for foundation use. The product could be visually more rustic romantic, as the brand name reminds me of an eloveen girl in a rural landscape. Here’s a picture of my face when I used this primer and also the gel tint from the same brand. #LYKOTESTPILOT #MILKMAKEUP3 likes1750 viewsto leave a comment - 2 weeks
Exciting!
As a #LYKOTESTPILOT, I got the chance to try #MILKMAKEUP’s hydro grip primer! Here are my opinions😍: + Convenient packaging with pump💖 + No strong scent🌷 + Super sticky!! Almost like glue😍 - High price and I don’t think it’s WOW enough for that price unfortunately! - I don’t think my skin reacted well to it. I tried the primer together with Milks Hydro Grip Gel Tint, but also with the foundation I usually use daily to give the primer a fair chance (hard to know when testing several new things at once😅) I found that the makeup held well, but not any extreme difference that I would have hoped for this price😕Translated from swedish
