I have tested the Curly Comb both in the shower and afterwards, and I find that it is gentle and easy to use without pulling or tugging at the hair. This gel is absolutely amazing for my curls! The scent is simply lovely, just like the rest of the line, with fresh grapefruit, peach, and nectarine that actually lasts in my hair all day โ and I constantly get compliments on how good my hair smells. There aren't many products that can do that! What I love most about this gel is that it gives defined, shiny, and bouncy curls without making them stiff or crunchy. I can easily choose whether I want volume or more defined curls, depending on how I style and which comb I use. It tames frizz, holds the definition, and gives my curls so much life, while not weighing them down. For me with tighter curls, flexible hold is important, and this really delivers โ my hair feels soft and natural, but holds its shape all day. Plant-based keratin and sunflower oil provide both care and protection, and it's fantastic that the product is both vegan, Curly Girl-approved, and made without harmful ingredients. Great moisture boost, but not optimal as a refresh spray
I have used this spray both on days when I don't want to style my hair too much, and as a first step before I apply the Curl Defining Gel from the same line โ and for that, it works great. It provides light moisture and protects the hair from becoming dry throughout the day, and the scent is incredibly lovely with notes of peach, nectarine, citrus, and a hint of green apple and musk. It gives a fresh and clean feeling that lasts a long time. But when I try to use it to activate dry curls โ that is, in dry hair to reactivate the curls between washes โ I find that the result doesn't hold up as well. At first, it looks good, but when the hair dries again, it quickly becomes crunchy and gets a lot of frizz. Therefore, the product doesn't work optimally for that specific use for my hair (I have 4B/4C curls), and that's a shame because I would have loved to have a really good refresh product in this line. Still, I would say that as a light leave-in moisture spray in wet or slightly damp hair, it is absolutely fine, and it works excellently as a base for styling with gel. I also like that it is Curly Girl approved, vegan, and gentle on both hair and the environment.
