    Good product

My skin type is dry combination and it thanks me! I chose the version with oil, so this one, because especially in winter my skin needs care in addition to exfoliation. Impurities have clearly decreased. I use it alternately with retinol (not at the same time!). #lykoreview

    3/10

I really hoped this one would work for me. Since it's a decently strong acid and i had seen reviews of the other one (same brand, clear botle) saying it was too strong and caused a lot of irritation i thought this would work well for my sensitive skin. While it dose not sting and mostly just feels like oil on tbe face for me it did not do anything, with very consistent usage i saw no results, however when i picked up the clear bottle, results showed within a few days for me. + very gentle + cheep + works well to keep legs smooth - sits on top of the skin dose not absorb - small to no results - very much only an evening product - dose not play well with most other products - botle kinda leakes

    Allergic reaction

I had an allergic reaction to this. Blisters and swelling on the cheeks with itching. It worked to take antihistamines. I usually don't react to their regular salicylic acid.

I also reacted to their Squalane cleanser a couple of years ago. I'm pretty sure I'm allergic to Hydroxymethoxyphenyl Decanone, which is found in both Salicylic acid Anhydrous solution and Squalane cleanser. This is what my eyes looked like a day after using it. And for reference, a picture where I don't have an ongoing allergic reaction πŸ˜…

    Used together with Retinal?

Can this be used on the same day as retinal? If not, how do you recommend spacing it and retinal on different days?

Heihei πŸ‘‹ The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Anhydrous Solution is a fat-soluble BHA that exfoliates the skin and helps with clogged pores. Retinal (or retinol) stimulates cell renewal and can be quite active. Both products can cause irritation β€” especially if used together. Therefore, it is not recommended to use salicylic acid and retinal on the same night. The combination can cause dryness, peeling, or sensitivity πŸ₯Ή You can alternate between them every other night, or use salicylic acid 2–3 times a week and retinal on the other days β€” depending on how much your skin can tolerate. Wishing you a nice day ahead πŸ’“

    Not for me

I bought this to gently start with BHA acid, but I felt the effect was lacking, so I’m using a 2% BHA acid with zinc instead. This might be better in the winter when my skin gets very dry, so I’ll test it again then. (I have a very oily skin type with very large pores, and I get clogged very easily even though I also get easily dry)

Hey Louise! 🌸 Thank you for sharing your experience with the product and telling us how it worked for your skin. We understand that you may need to test things out, especially when your skin is both oily and can also become dry. Doesn't work. Maybe I tried for too short a time, but I used it for two weeks and saw no difference.

    Exfoliation

Hey! Did I understand correctly that the product can be used to exfoliate the skin?πŸ˜… Is the product supposed to be on the face for X amount of time, and then washed off? I couldn't find an answer to thisπŸ€”

Hey Kiiaiina, thanks for your question! 🩷 Salicylic acid is an exfoliating acid. It removes dead skin cells from the surface of the skin, making it an exfoliating ingredient. At the same time, it helps to open clogged pores 🌸 This exfoliation is used like a serum. You can use it morning and night or, for example, just a couple of times a week. Apply a small amount of the product to the area you want to treat, such as the T-zone or spots where pimples occur. The product is not rinsed off, but you continue with your normal skincare routine. When using salicylic acid, it is especially important to remember to use sunscreen as well. Have a nice day! 🌞

    Question

What is the difference between this and The Ordinary's other salicylic acid serums direct acids? And which is best for non-inflammatory acne?

Hey Nellie! The Ordinary has two salicylic acid products that look similar, but feel and function quite differently πŸ’— The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Anhydrous Solution is oil-based and suitable for dry and more sensitive skin. While The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution (Direct Acid) is water-based and more active and directly exfoliating, suitable for more oily skin. For you, I would recommend the water-based one to get a direct exfoliating effect on your non-inflammatory acne πŸ’— Good luck and take care ✨

    Gentle on the skin

The Ordinary's "regular" BHA serum irritated the skin on my face. I get the same results with this formula, minus the irritation.
