A really good spot treatment overnight.
Loreal says that the product can be used in 2 ways, either as a spot treatment or as a face mask. I have tried both for a while now and think it has worked better than expected. Contains several good ingredients, such as niacinamide, glycerin, glycolic acid, etc. Paula's choice ingredient checker lists 14 under "Best", which is good. The downside, like with the rest of the range, is that this also contains fragrance. Something I personally will never understand in skincare, why fragrance is added to products that stay on the skin and can cause irritation. But some like it and have tolerant skin, but worth considering if you have sensitive skin. Spot treatment: Tried this on an area on my forehead that has been irritated for a while now in the heat (usually breaks out more in summer due to increased sweating and stress from the heat). Applied at night every other day for 2 weeks (You can start 1-2 times a week but had limited time to test so I went for it). The cream is quite thick and sits on the skin, it eventually sinks in. Not something I would wear during the day but totally fine at night. The best part is that the irritated area on my forehead got better after about 1 week, the redness had subsided and the spots had decreased. The fragrance did not irritate my sensitive skin, even though I would have preferred to avoid it completely. Face mask: In my opinion, it is too expensive for 45ml to use as a face mask, there are cheaper alternatives. And I did not experience any wow feeling as a face mask. In short, I think it does a good job as a spot treatment overnight, at an acceptable price. An SPF that unfortunately falls far behind the Korean alternatives.
I have been using Korean SPF for many years now, and every time I try others, I get disappointed, so it was interesting to test this one and see if they have come closer to Korean SPF. I have a bit of tricky skin that gets oily, many creams/products leave a greasy sticky film on the skin and are generally sensitive. The tube has a narrow tip, so it is quite easy to apply directly to the skin. The viscosity of the SPF itself is just right, not too runny and not too thick. However, there is a very strange consistency in the cream when you start to work it into the skin, it becomes immediately sluggish and difficult to work with on the face, there is a lot of resistance. Nothing I have experienced with any Korean SPF. You have to take a decent amount for it to be worked evenly into the face. Alternatively, you can take a moisturizing cream and mix it with this SPF. SPF30 is unfortunately far too low in my opinion for it to be good, SPF50 is what I believe should be used daily. But better than nothing, of course. Additionally, not having an SPF that works just as well on the eye area as the rest of the face is, in my opinion, unacceptable. The eye area is among the most important to protect, and having to resort to a separate product for that is not good. Perfume is also an ingredient that I do not appreciate in a product that stays on the skin. On the positive side, it leaves no sticky film and mattifies the skin as described. Unfortunately, it is again Korean SPFs that are superior. Even for my skin type, which is sensitive and oily. A nice cleanser if used correctly.
I've been trying this for 2 weeks now, morning and night, and there are both pros and cons. My skin type is generally combination with an oilier area in the T-zone and dry cheeks. I also have quite sensitive skin on my face, so I sometimes react to products. The cleanser lathers very easily, which makes it quick and easy to apply over the face, and it rinses off just as easily. I prefer products that can also be used around the eye area so you don't have to think too much, but since this contains salicylic acid, you have to be a bit careful around the eyes. Salicylic acid can also irritate sensitive skin; I feel a mild tingling after washing with the product, but as long as it doesn't lead to a larger redness or the tingling doesn't go away, this is considered normal with salicylic acid. But how one reacts to this is very individual. Other important things to consider with salicylic acid are that it leaves the skin more sensitive afterward, so SPF is important during the day. Additionally, moisturizing afterward is also important since salicylic acid leaves the skin dry. It also contains other good ingredients like niacinamide and glycerin, which is good. (Some may be sensitive to niacinamide, so worth considering) Unfortunately, it contains perfume, which I don't prefer as it can irritate, but it's more acceptable in a cleanser since it rinses off immediately anyway. The perfume is mild and quite neutral, so nothing like "too sweet" or some herbs that can be perceived as disturbing for some (myself included) I think it has worked well for my skin, and I will continue to use it. In my opinion, it is a complete cleanser if there is a need for salicylic acid.
